Wood, William - Enlisted as a private in Co. K, 6th Regiment Ga. State Troops October 14, 1861. Mustered out at Savannah, Ga. April 15, 1862. Enlisted as a private in Co. G, 40th Regiment Ga. Inf. May 18, 1862. Captured at Baker's Creek, Miss. May 16, 1863. Paroled at Fort Delaware, Del. July 30, 1863. Contracted chronic diarrhoea. Admitted to Confederate States Hospital at Petersburg, Va. August 1, 1863, and furloughed home August 21, 1863. Pension records show he "Was never able to return to service." (Born in Haralson County, Ga. September 29, 1835. Died in Haralson County, Ga. in 1911.)
