Between March 31 and April 17, 1865, the 40th, 41st and 43d Regiments Georgia Volunteer Infantry were consolidated to form the 40th Battalion Georgia Volunteer Infantry which surrendered at Greensboro, N. C. April 26, 1865.


McDaniel, Charles A.- Elected Captain of Co. B, Cobb's Le- gion Ga. Inf. July 30, 1861; Colonel of the 41st Regiment Ga. Inf. March 17, 1862. Wounded at Perryville, Ky. October 8, 1862. Died from wounds in General Hospital at Harrodsburg, Ky. October 31, 1862.

Curtis, William Ezra - Elected Captain of Co. F, 19th Regiment Ga. Inf. June 11, 1861; Lieutenant Colonel of the 41st Regiment Ga. Inf. March 20, 1862; Colonel October 31, 1862. Captured at Vicksburg, Miss. July 4, 1863, and paroled there July 6, 1863. Killed near Atlanta, Ga. July 25, 1864.

Knight, John - Major March 20, 1862. Elected Lieutenant Colo- nel October 31, 1862. Captured at Vicksburg, Miss. July 4, 1863, and paroled there July 6, 1863. Retired to Invalid Corps November 2, 1864.

Nall, Marcus S.- Major. See 1st Lieut. Co. I.

Steed, John G.- Adjutant. See private Co. D.

Ellis, Esidore - Adjutant. See private Co. B.

Conyers, John F.- Enlisted as a private in Co. A, 1st Regiment Ga. Inf. (Ramsey's) May 7, 1861. Mustered out at Augusta, Ga. March 18, 1862. Enlisted as a private in 2d Co. A, 12th Battn. Ga. Light Artillery May 1, 1862. Appointed Adjutant of the 41st Regiment Ga. Inf. January 13, 1864. No later record.

Bryan, E. H.- Surgeon November 11, 1861. Register of Medical Director's Office, Army of Tenn., shows him as Surgeon with remark: "August 7, 1863. Will report without delay to General Braxton Bragg for assignment to duty." Resigned March 5, 1864. Resignation accepted April 7, 1864.

Wright, John A.- Surgeon. See private Co. E.

Juhan, D. B.- Surgeon January 21, 1863. Resigned, disability, March 16, 1863. Resignation accepted April 2, 1863.

Dowsing, John W.- Enlisted as a private in Captain Greenleaf's Company Louisiana Cavalry March 22, 1862. Appointed Acting Surgeon of the 41st Regiment Ga. Inf. June 20, 1862, and paid for said services from August 21 to December 16, 1862. Roll of Captain Greenleaf's Company Louisiana Cavalry for May-June 1864, last on file, shows him "Absent, detailed in hospital by order General Stewart." Paroled at Memphis, Tenn. May 15, 1865.

Jones, William F.- Assistant Surgeon December 4, 1862. Resigned, ill health, March 13, 1863.
