12:00 Noon to 5:00 PM Registration Lobby of Hampton Inn – Vicksburg Meet with other G.B.S.H.H.A. members, new members and guests and receive printed details of upcoming events. Board Meeting 3:00 PM
7:00 PM to 9:00 PM Welcome /Mixer/Silent Auction Old members meet new members and guests. Refreshments.

8:00 AM -
10:00 AM – 10:30 AM Return to Hampton Inn for brief rest stop. There are no restrooms along South Confederate Avenue.
10:30 AM – 12 Noon Travel by car convoy to Georgia Memorial Monument off South Confederate Avenue. Accessed via Railroad Redoubt Road in the Military Park.
1:00 PM – 4:00 PM Visit Museum at Vicksburg National Military Park Visitor’s Center Clay Street (U.S. 80) This is an extensive museum with many exhibits and audio – visual programs to explain the campaign and siege of Vicksburg.

1:00 PM – 4:00 PM Travel by car to U.S.S. Cairo Museum located near Vicksburg National Cemetery. The remains of this ironclad gunboat and the artifacts recovered from it and the displays explain the naval aspect of the Vicksburg Campaign.
NOTE: The tours have been designed to be under air conditioning during the heat of the day and outside during the cooler part of the mornings.
7:00 PM to 10:00 PM Banquet dinner and Guest Speaker Awards Door Prizes. Enjoy “No Host” buffet dinner, featuring keynote After Dinner speaker. Dinner will be in a room at Vicksburg Convention Center, 1600 Mulberry Street, Vicksburg.
September 2, 2018
8:00 AM to 9:00 AM Visit Cedar Hills Cemetery (Confederate Section) and Confederate statue. Place flags and remember the 81 officers and men of Barton’s Brigade who died in the Vicksburg Siege from sickness and wounds. Many others lost on the field of battle.
Buried here are: 23 men 40th Georgia; 7 men 41st Georgia; 29 men 42nd Georgia; 15 men 43rd Georgia and 7 men 52nd Georgia.
This concludes the formal GBSHHA 2018 Congress tours.
Travel home safely.
